Descriptive Journey

Western Queensland Spirit's Cellar Door is located on a peaceful 55 acre former grape farm just 10 minutes outside of Roma, in Western Queensland. On arrival, guests will turn off a gravel road and into our parking lot. Journeying along a straight path, guests walk under a metal arbour and past botanical producing plants such as rosemary and olive trees. Native bees can be spotted pollinating on most days. Turning right at the iconic wire metal bottle tree sculpture, guests continue towards the Cellar Door building. Entering the space, to the left guests will find the bar. a lowered service counter allows guests to interact with staff and a self service fridge with water to the left of the bar allows guests to grab a water for their table. The bar is a long corrugated iron wall with a wood top. Behind it guests will find our bartenders hard at work shaking cocktails, cracking cans and popping bottles of champagne. Additional noise may come from the ice machine or the dishwasher. There are also a handful of speakers playing music inside and outside of the Cellar Door with volume not exceeding 30 dB. Inside the cellar door guests can sit around the enclosed fire place or at one of the barrels. On the far wall is the production floor where the still and other spirit manufacturing items are. These are not in use on weekends however, noise from this area is to be expected during weekdays as we are a production distillery. To the left of this area is the door to our kitchen which during busier times can be a flurry of activity. Staff coming in and out with food and restocking the bar can make this area a bit busy. Outside the cellar door we have large tables with long benches around the building in the shade of a roof and under large shade sails. To the north side there is a sandpit where children play. To the south west side there is a fire pit where on cold winter nights, guests may sit around a lit fire. The accessible bathrooms are located on the north side of the cellar door. On weekends guests can expect a mix of couples, families and larger groups enjoying themselves. Sometimes a birthday or corporate event might see even larger groups of 30 + enjoying themselves. During these times, the Cellar Door might be louder than usual. During the week, groups are at a minimum and so is noise. Surrounding the distillery is 55 acre of paddocks that contain sheep and a few wild kangaroos. The sheep are safely away in paddocks however, kangaroos may roam freely around the property. They will usually hop away should a guest get close. The distillery borders a dirt road where during particularly dry periods, dust may be kicked up by passing vehicles. The road is also occasionally used by large trucks and road trains which may contribute to excess dust and noise as they pass.
